1. As a general rule the night table should be about the same height as the mattress.

4. Non-opaque shades are best for sufficient lighting for reading.
5. If space is a premium, consider wall mounted sconces.
Color/Finish:
1. The finish of the night stands do not need to match each other or the rest of the case goods.
2. Do something unique and unsuspecting, select an elegant table for one side and a storage type stand for the other side, just ensure that they balance each other in weight and size.
3. Find a colorful piece that can accent the room/bedding for added interest.
4. If you have a nightly drink, ensure the finish on the stand can withstand any spills or have a custom piece of glass cut to fit to avoid water rings.
